The One Who Chooses

Your brain and your blood
will lie in your ears
drag your heart through the mud,
call out all your fears.
And I'm under your skin
only making matters worse.
I am what could have been
or I am your second verse.
There's a fork in your road
and a missing minute-hand.
You think you'll implode,
but it's time to take that stand.
If you make it through the haze
to see my bright blue skies,
let me show you all the ways
that you're my reason why.
So, you're still the one who chooses
and I still the one who waits,
but your soul never uses
a map to find its mate.

Absurd

"I think,"
you said.
Nothing more.
Or
at least
that's all I heard.

Absurd,
the notion,
the words
put in motion,
and I can't see
through your haze.
If I bleed,
please look away.
My heart
stops,
starts,
and locks
and my lungs
won't work.
Into the sun,
into the murk,
I had your hand
if you had mine;
don't misunderstand.
No really, it's fine.
