No Other Dream

Behind locked eye lids,
I see myself revealed:
a whimsical winter
spent in amiable arms,
a faceless friend
whose fingers flatter.

A valorous visage
comes into view.
I trace a shy smile
with my own lips
and know the language
my own heart speaks.

I've fallen in love
with fantasies before:
the promises on their lips,
the safety in their arms,
their bright, shining armor,
and their sea green eyes.

I want no other dream,
no other swirling specter,
no other eyes in bloom.
If I hear my name
roll off your tongue,
I swear, I'll never wake.

May Nothing Ever Come Between

I see the twinkle of your eye
whenever I look to the sky,
for - oh - if I could learn to fly
and dance among the stars so high,
I think I'd leave the earth for good.
I'd know a love no other could
and speak in breaths just understood.
I'd hold your hand because you would
forever be right by my side.
And we would dance and spin with pride
in our galactic place to hide,
a destiny not forced, defined.
In our cosmic cluster beam,
we'd say exactly what we mean
and over light-years we'd careen.
May nothing ever come between.

I wrote this in fifteen minutes today. Take that as you will. I know one cannot breathe in space, but no one, literally, can fly to space either, so just go with it. :)

Your Air

The winter wind whispered your name
and told me you were Home.
I thought it a suspicious claim,
and wanted to be shown.
And so, a nomad, I became,
around the world I'd roam,
to hear a heart beating the same,
blood red as my own.

I swam across a salty sea
to see if you were there.
Somehow you had heard my private plea
and shared in my despair.
Your hands were warm when they touched me,
my flesh so soft and fair
and suddenly I felt I'm free,
just breathing in your air.

Nothing is forbidden here;
that's only what they told you.
But in my eyes, you see no fear
and know that I am true.
The sky above is wide and clear,
so we dance in its blue
and Home is only when you're near,
where I rest my head too.

Don't Hide Away

You are the song
stuck in my head
so all night long
you're in my bed.
Dreams can't be wrong;
they're right ahead.
Your pull is strong,
my light that led.

The stars that shimmer,
spell out your name;
they calm my tremors
and ease my pain.
A two-way mirror,
a picture frame,
familiar figures,
I can't explain.

Forget the seas.
Don't count the days.
I am your breeze.
You are my haze
and when I breathe,
you're what I say.
I beg you, please,
don't hide away.
